This past week I took my first trip to the West Coast and let me tell you, I fell head over heels in love with the Pacific Northwest. I have always been more of a mountain gal than a beach gal, but Washington State has the best of both worlds! Now the weather is something that would definitely take me a while to get used to. We lucked out and had gorgeous, sunny weather the majority of our trip – but for a Texas gal, 60 degrees is considered “chilly” for us.
If you ever visit the Olympic Peninsula, Ruby Beach is a must see. It’s about 27 miles south of Forks (any Twilight junkies out there?) and is well worth the steep climb down and abundance of drift wood you will cross to get to the shore. It’s best to visit at low tide, where you will see a plethora of sea stars and sea anemones.
Now in TX, you can bet I would be wearing my bikini and going for a dip in the water within 30 seconds. However, my perfect beach outfit for Washington consists of a breezy top and jeans. My flowwy top is by Free People, and my jeans are Paige Denim. (seriously my new favorite pair, they are SO comfortable.) My druzy stone Summer Choker was actually handmade by my friend Ashely, and I adore it! I am so glad that chokers are back in style because they are my favorite way to accessorize. (But frankly, I would be wearing them even if they weren’t in.) You can shop this necklace and a ton of other affordable jewelry at her shop, NWP Designs. (Also, you can customize the colors and stone to whatever you like!)
It’s good to be back home in Texas, but it won’t be long until I get the travel bug again! Leave me a comment where you think I should travel to next!
